It's about time I'd say. Get some real color in here.

Considering how far off the Fatso plug is from my hardware Fatso, I hope they try to get it right if they do.

rockmixer i havent heard many comments like you describe, that the Fatso plugin is "that far off" from the hardware version.

what differences do you find exactly? i myself would be a bit peeved that i had spent several thousand dollars on hardware that everyone can now emulate for just a few hundred dollars, your little unique exclusive club of owning the "Fatso Sound" has been blown open to all so i hope your answer is not just to make us all feel seemingly inadequate but truly has genuine measurable differences....that can be picked out in a blind lineup test etc....

What differences do you find exactly?

Cheers,

serious? i find it about 90% there, which is pretty incredible considering whats involved. ok driving it hard is a little lacking but other than that i cant fault it.

what do you find lacking?

Maybe your hardware FATSO is the one that is off. :) When comparing the UAD FATSO to a FATSO 'golden' hardware unit @ the UA facilities in Cali, Dave Deer is quoted as saying UA "nailed it". It seems to me that someone of that stature with a public reputation to uphold would not be so inclined to endorse a product (with his name on it) if the plugin is as far off from the hardware as you say it is. I do not have a FATSO to actually compare, but somehow I put more validity in a statement from Dave Derr ( I think he knows the FATSO better than anyone else) than from some anonymous poster on a forum. I do not think anyone will believe that the UAD FATSO is 100% identical in every way to the hardware, but you seem to suggest that it does not even compare which I find hard to believe.

PS: Providing us with the FATSO SR. was stroke of genius on UA's part. It may be the first case where the plugin is released before the hardware (that is if a FASTO SR ever comes to light as hardware).
